  • Delhi HC Temporarily Restrains MicroTV, ReelTV Platforms From Streaming StoryTV Micro-Drama Content

On 29 May, the Delhi High Court granted an ad interim injunction in favour of Greenhorn Wellness Private Limited, the company behind the short drama platform “StoryTV”, and restrained rogue websites and Telegram channels from hosting and distributing its copyrighted micro-drama content without authorisation.

Justice Jyoti Singh granted the relief after holding that StoryTV made out a prima facie case and that the balance of convenience lay in its favour. She noted that StoryTV would suffer “likely to suffer irreparable harm” if it did not grant protection at this stage.

Greenhorn Wellness Private Limited approached the Court after it discovered in the third week of May 2026 that three websites: microtv.my.id, microtv.one, and reeltv.buzz, reproduced and streamed its copyrighted micro-drama series without any licence. It also impleaded Telegram FZ-LLC as Defendant No. 5 and sought removal of infringing channels operating on the platform.

The company alleged that Defendant Nos. 2 and 3 hosted more than 50 StoryTV works, while Defendant No. 4 made available more than 30 works. It further stated that the platforms did not only stream content but also compiled entire seasons of micro-dramas into consolidated videos for free download.

The Court recorded that the defendants indexed, aggregated, and promoted infringing content and redirected users, which amounted to active participation in the dissemination of copyrighted works.

It also noted that Defendant No. 4 operated a Progressive Web App that enabled unauthorised access to StoryTV content. It ran a Telegram channel that encouraged users to set up similar infringing platforms. The Bench found that the defendant shared and discussed DMCA takedown notices, which showed knowledge of infringement and an intent to evade enforcement measures.

StoryTV operates as a subscription-based platform offering one-minute episodic content. Greenhorn claimed copyright as the first owner under Sections 17(b) and 17(c) of the Copyright Act, 1957, stating that it commissioned the content under work-for-hire agreements.

Along with copyright infringement, Greenhorn also raised passing off claims, stating that the infringing platforms used StoryTV's trademarks to create a false impression of association.

The Court directed all defendants to take down infringing URLs within 36 hours of receiving the order. It also directed domain name registrars PT Biznet Gio Nusantara, Dynadot Inc., and Public Domain Registry to block or suspend the domains within 36 hours and disclose registrant details within six weeks.

Lastly, the Bench also directed Telegram to block the infringing channels within three weeks and file a compliance affidavit.

The matter is listed next on 14 September 2026.
