The Delhi High Court on Monday restrained EaseMyBiz Technologies LLP, by an interim order, from launching its proposed courier services app or activating its website under the name “EaseMyBiz” in a trademark suit by MakeMyTrip India.
Justice Tushar Rao Gedela clarified that the restriction is limited to the defendant's digital platforms, noting that the app is still under development and the domain remains inactive. The court made it clear that the defendant's courier business can continue.
“If you have not launched it or not started yet, don't that's all,” the court said. It added, “App and domain name, you will stop for a while. The rest you can carry on. We are not stopping your business.”, the court said.
EaseMyBiz argued that there is no likelihood of confusion as its services are confined to courier operations, which are entirely distinct from MakeMyTrip's corporate travel booking platform under the “MyBiz” brand.
“If I have to book a flight from Delhi to Mumbai, it can't happen that I'll go to my website and I will courier myself to Bombay from Delhi,” its counsel submitted.
It further contended that the plaintiff cannot claim a monopoly over the term “MyBiz” across unrelated sectors. “We can't assume that person is a stupid person that he won't even understand the difference between a courier company and a company which is into the business of booking of flights,” the counsel argued, relying on precedents where similar marks were allowed for different businesses.
MakeMyTrip, however, described the defendant as an “enlightened copycat” and pointed to the scale of its MyBiz brand. According to the plaintiff, the mark has generated a turnover of Rs 13,688 crore since 2017, with over Rs 361 crore spent on its promotion.
“It is not merely a sub-brand, it is almost a main brand of the plaintiff,” its counsel submitted.
MakeMyTrip also argued that the defendant had only recently adopted the name EaseMyBiz in April 2025 and had filed its trademark application on a “proposed to be used” basis. It pointed out that the defendant's website, easemybiz.ai, is not currently active.
Taking note of these submissions, the court observed, “It appears to the court that it would be just to direct the defendant to refrain from launching this app.”
EaseMyBiz has been granted time to file its reply and documents. The matter is listed on July 13, 2026 before the Joint Registrar and September 3, 2026 before the court.
