CGPDTM Notifies Patent & Trade Marks Agent Exams 2027, Registration To Open July 1

On 23 June 2026, the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks issued a public notice announcing the schedule and key details for the Patent Agent Examination 2027 and the Trade Marks Agent Examination 2027.

The notice states that the Trade Marks Agent Examination is likely to take place on 9 January 2027 and the Patent Agent Examination is likely to take place on 10 January 2027. The authority will conduct both examinations across 15 centres, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

Online registration will open on 1 July 2026 at 10:00 AM and close on 30 September 2026 at 11:59 PM. The authority has clarified that it will not extend the deadline and it will accept applications only in online mode.

The application fee stands at Rs. 1,600 for the Patent Agent Examination and Rs. 4,500 for the Trade Marks Agent Examination. Each examination will include two papers, an objective Paper I and a descriptive Paper II, each carrying 100 marks. Candidates must secure at least 50 percent marks in each paper individually to qualify for the viva voce round, which will carry 50 marks.

The notice further requires candidates to submit their degree certificates within six months from the declaration of final results to complete registration. The authority expects to release admit cards from 15 December 2026. It is likely to declare the results of the written examination in the second week of February 2027 and the final results in the third week of March 2027.
