Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday (March 20) launched the Income Tax Department's nationwide outreach campaign 'PRARAMBH 2026' in New Delhi and also inaugurated the revamped Income Tax Website 2.0 as part of efforts to prepare taxpayers for the new Income Tax Act, which will come into force from April 1, 2026.

The upgraded e-filing portal has been designed to provide improved usability, simpler navigation, and more efficient service delivery to taxpayers as part of the department's ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

PRARAMBH 2026 is a nationwide awareness campaign aimed at informing citizens about the key features of the new Income Tax Act, 2025, through workshops, guidance material, digital platforms, and multilingual outreach programmes.

During the event, CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal announced the launch of an AI-enabled chatbot, “Kar Saathi”, to assist taxpayers with queries relating to the new law, rules, and forms and said support would also continue to be available through Aaykar Seva Kendras and other taxpayer-facilitation channels.

Sitharaman said the new tax law aims to create a simpler, clearer, and more taxpayer-friendly system supported by digital tools, with the objective of making compliance easier and improving trust between taxpayers and the administration.
