  • CCI Approves Chinese WOK Operators Proposed Acquisition Of Stake In Burger King India Franchisee

    The Competition Commission of India has approved the proposed acquisition of a certain stake in Burger King India franchisee Restaurant Brands Asia Limited by Chinese WOK operator Lenexis Foodworks and other acquirers.

    The proposed transaction will be carried out through equity subscriptions, warrant subscriptions, equity purchases, and an open offer.

    The other acquirers are Aayush Agrawal Trust, Inspira Foodworks Private Limited, Aayush Madhusudan Agrawal, and Inspira Agro Trading LLC.

    Restaurant Brands Asia is the national master franchisee of the Burger King brand and holds exclusive rights to develop, operate, and franchise Burger King restaurants across India.

    Lenexis Foodworks is engaged in the quick-service restaurant business and operates restaurants across India under the brands Chinese WOK, The Momo Co, and Big Bowl Co.

    Aayush Agrawal Trust is the primary investment vehicle for Aayush Madhusudan Agrawal and his family, with Agrawal serving as its sole trustee.

    Inspira Foodworks is proposed to serve as a strategic investment and operating vehicle focused on expanding Lenexis's existing QSR business.

    Inspira Agro Trading LLC is engaged in the business of trading cardamom in the United Arab Emirates.

    The Competition Commission said a detailed order will follow.
