RBI Appoints Career Central Banker Sudhakar Malli As Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India has appointed Sudhakar Malli as Executive Director, with effect from October 1, 2026, according to a press release issued by the central bank.

Prior to his appointment, Malli was serving as Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the RBI's Department of Supervision.

Malli is a career central banker with around three decades of experience, including more than 25 years in the supervision of banks, non-banking financial companies and co-operative banks. He has also spent around five years undertaking supervisory work in overseas jurisdictions and has experience in Currency Management.

In his new role as Executive Director, Malli will oversee the Department of Supervision (Supervisory Assessment).

Malli holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

The appointment was announced by the RBI on October 2, 2026.
