Delhi High Court Issues Summons On Actor, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut's Personality Rights Plea
The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued summons in a suit filed by Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut seeking protection of her personality rights.
Justice Vikas Mahajan also issued notice on Ranaut's application seeking an interim injunction against the alleged misuse of her persona.
Appearing for Ranaut, her counsel submitted that the actress was being targeted through pornographic and obscene material circulated on social media.
The counsel also drew the court's attention to AI-generated content allegedly depicting Ranaut. He submitted that a fact-check had established that the offending material was AI-generated and pointed out that it found “no such real photograph.”
During the hearing, the court asked Ranaut's counsel to provide the names of the defendants against whom the takedown relief was being sought.
The court is expected to pass an order on the interim injunction application. The suit has been listed for further hearing in February 2027.
