United Breweries Secures Trade Mark Registration For Kingfisher Sound Mark “Oo La La La La Le O”
United Breweries Limited has secured a registration for the sound trade mark associated with its Kingfisher brand, with the Trade Marks Registry issuing a certificate of registration for the jingle popularly rendered as “Oo La La La La Le O” under the Trade Marks Act, 1999.
The registration, granted by the Trade Marks Registry, Mumbai, confers statutory exclusive rights on United Breweries Limited over the auditory brand asset, which has been extensively deployed in advertising and brand communication across India. The certificate has been issued under Section 23(2) of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 read with Rule 56(1) of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017.
As per the certificate, the sound mark has been registered under Trade Mark No. 6834005 with effect from January 31, 2025, and was sealed by the Registrar of Trademarks on February 5, 2026. The mark has been registered in Class 99, covering the goods specified in the annexure.
The annexure lists goods in Class 32, including beers, non-alcoholic beverages, mineral and aerated waters, fruit beverages, fruit juices, syrups and other preparations for making beverages. It also covers goods in Class 33 relating to alcoholic beverages other than beers, as well as alcoholic preparations for making beverages.
The registration will remain valid for ten years from the date of application and may be renewed in accordance with the Trade Marks Act, 1999. The certificate clarifies that it is not intended for use in legal proceedings or for obtaining registration abroad, and that any change in ownership or address must be notified to the Registry.
