The Delhi High Court on 1 October granted an ex parte ad-interim injunction to Ritvik Bansal, proprietor of 7R, restraining multiple defendants from using his copyrighted marketing material and REZONI trademarks.

Justice A. J. Bhambhani passed the order after finding that Bansal had established a prima facie case. He stated:

“Based on a preliminary appreciation of the matter, this court is of the view that the plaintiff has succeeded in making-out a prima-facie case in its favour; that the balance of convenience also lies in favour of the plaintiff and against the defendants; and it would appear that irreparable loss and injury would be caused to the plaintiff if the interim injunction as prayed-for is not granted.”

Bansal operates a smartphone accessories business primarily engaged in manufacturing smartphone covers. He claimed ownership of the REZONI device mark and stated that applications to register the mark and its variants were pending.

He submitted that investments in marketing and promotional activities had contributed to the growth of his business. He alleged that the defendants had copied and used marketing material created to promote his products without obtaining his licence or permission.

The Court restrained the defendants from using the copyrighted works listed in Schedule A of the plaint and the REZONI trademark and other marks identified in paragraph 27 of the plaint, in terms of the prayers sought, until the next date of hearing.

Bansal also sought relief against e-commerce platforms impleaded as defendants Nos. 15 to 17, including the removal of webpages, content and URLs allegedly infringing his intellectual property rights. He further sought a dynamic injunction directing the platforms to remove existing and future listings reported to be infringing his rights.

However, the order did not expressly grant the separate takedown and dynamic injunction prayers against the e-commerce platforms. The Bench issued notice on the interim application and listed the matter before the Joint Registrar on 11 December 2026.

Accordingly, the High Court granted an ex parte ad-interim injunction protecting Bansal's copyrighted works and REZONI marks until the next date of hearing.
