Delhi High Court Orders YouTube To Remove Video Allegedly Showing Hindu Preacher Endorsing Satlok Ashram

The Delhi High Court has directed YouTube to take down a video that allegedly used morphed versions of Hindu preacher Sadhvi Deepika Bharti's original religious discourse without authorisation, while falsely portraying her as endorsing Sant Rampal Singh and Satlok Ashram Foundation.

Justice Mini Pushkarna passed the order on May 18, 2026, in a suit filed by Sadhvi Deepika Bharti and Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan.

The Court observed, “this Court is of the view that a prima facie case has been established by the plaintiffs. Further, balance of convenience lies in favour of the plaintiffs, and irreparable loss shall be caused to the plaintiffs, if interim relief is not granted.”

The suit, instituted in 2025, seeks permanent and mandatory injunctions against the creation, publication, and dissemination of morphed, misleading, and defamatory videos allegedly using the plaintiffs' original content without authorisation.

According to the plaintiffs, the impugned videos unlawfully used Sadhvi Deepika Bharti's original discourse and manipulated it by superimposing images of Sant Rampal Singh. This allegedly created a false impression that she was associated with or endorsing him and Satlok Ashram Foundation.

The dispute traces back to an original 2018 video in which Sadhvi Deepika Bharti spoke about the coming of the 'Kalki Avatar' in reference to Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan.

According to the plaintiffs, the impugned video altered that footage with images of Sant Rampal Singh to make it appear that she was referring to him as the 'Kalki Avatar'. The plaint described the content as “highly defamatory” and intended “to deceive the public at large.”

On August 1, 2025, the Delhi High Court had restrained Satlok Ashram Foundation and other identified accounts from creating fake and morphed videos using the plaintiffs' content. Google and Meta were also directed to take down the infringing links and disclose uploader details.

The Court was told that despite those directions, another allegedly infringing video surfaced, prompting the present application.

During the hearing, counsel for Satlok Ashram Foundation and Sant Rampal Singh told the Court that they had no connection with the impugned video and had not uploaded it.

Granting interim relief, the Court directed Google/YouTube to take down the specific YouTube link in question. It also directed the platform to disclose the basic subscriber and account details of the uploader to the plaintiffs.

Meta told the Court that it had already complied with the earlier directions. The plaintiffs confirmed this, following which Meta was removed from the array of parties.
