The Delhi High Court on Thursday denied anticipatory bail to Nayan N. Raheja, former director of Raheja Developers Ltd. (RDL), in a money laundering case involving alleged proceeds of crime worth ₹2,425.99 crore.

Justice Amit Bansal passed the order on Raheja's anticipatory bail application challenging the Saket District Court's September 19, 2026 order rejecting Raheja's anticipatory bail plea.

“The bail application is dismissed.”, the High Court said while pronouncing the operative part of its order.

The case arose when Enforcement Directorate alleged that RDL collected ₹2,425.99 crore from around 4,600 homebuyers but diverted funds meant for construction towards loan repayments, cash withdrawals and transfers to group companies.

ED then alleged that ₹316.10 crore was transferred to related entities during Raheja's tenure in those companies, while funds routed to entities including Raheja Icon Entertainment and Riyasat Palaces were allegedly used for land acquisitions and other purposes instead of completing housing projects.

Finding prima facie material indicating Raheja's involvement and noting his alleged non cooperation, the Saket District court concluded that Raheja failed to satisfy the statutory conditions for anticipatory bail.

The court held that the offence of money laundering is distinct from the scheduled offence and that not being charge sheeted in a predicate case does not automatically absolve a person under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The District Court then dismissed the application, clarifying that its observations would not affect the merits of the case.

A detailed copy of the judgment is awaited.
