The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) to improve access to its services through regional Indian languages.

The MoU, signed on November 3, 2026, will enable SEBI to use BHASHINI's language technology tools, including Automatic Speech Recognition, Text-to-Speech, Machine Translation and Optical Character Recognition.

These technologies will facilitate access to SEBI's services in regional languages.

“It will also facilitate the enhancement of BHASHINI's language models with securities market related terminology.” the press release stated

The MoU was signed by DIBD Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Nag and SEBI's Whole Time Member Sandip Pradhan in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

DIBD functions as an independent division under Digital India Corporation, a Section 8 not-for-profit company established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

“This marks the beginning of enhanced cooperation between SEBI and DIBO.” the regulator stated

The MoU takes effect on November 3, 2026.
