UltraTech Cement Receives GST Demands of ₹15.26 Crore from Tamil Nadu Authorities
UltraTech Cement Limited recently informed stock exchanges that the State GST authorities in Tamil Nadu have issued two orders raising a cumulative tax demand of Rs. 15.26 crore, along with interest and penalties, on allegations of excess Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims.
As per the disclosure, the orders were passed by the Assistant Commissioner, State Goods and Services Tax, Trichy, and were received by the company on January 29, 2026.
One order relates to the financial year 2022-23, confirming a tax demand of Rs. 10.68 crore, along with interest of ₹5.34 crore and a penalty equal to the tax demand, arising from alleged excess ITC claimed in GST returns for the year.
The second order pertains to the financial year 2020-21, raising a tax demand of Rs. 4.57 crore, with interest of Rs.93 crore and a penalty equal to the tax amount, also on allegations of excess ITC availment.
UltraTech Cement stated that it will contest both orders before the appropriate appellate authorities and that it does not expect the orders to materially impact its financial position, operations, or other activities.
The disclosure, signed by the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer, was circulated to BSE Limited, National Stock Exchange of India, Luxembourg Stock Exchange, and Singapore Exchange, in line with the company's listing obligations.
