NCLAT Technical Members Barun Mitra, Naresh Salecha Get Tenure Extension Till May 2027
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the tenure of NCLAT Technical Members Barun Mitra and Naresh Salecha with effect from September 9, 2026.
According to the Gazette notification dated September 7, they will now continue until May 16, 2027, or until they attain the age of 67 years, whichever is earlier.
They will continue on the same terms and conditions governing their appointments under the July 22, 2022 notification.
The latest extension follows an earlier tenure extension granted by the Central Government through a May 15, 2026 notification.
Barun Mitra, a 1987-batch IAS officer, earlier served as Secretary in the Department of Justice and as Union Law Secretary. Naresh Salecha is a 1984-batch IRAS officer who previously served as a member (Finance) in the Railway Board and ex officio Secretary in the Ministry of Railways.
