MCA Extends Tenure Of NCLAT Technical Members Barun Mitra, Naresh Salecha Till September 2026

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has extended the tenure of NCLAT Technical Members Barun Mitra and Naresh Salecha. Their current term ends on May 16, and they will now continue until September 8, 2026, or until they attain the age of 67 years, whichever is earlier.

The extension was notified through a gazette notification dated May 15 and takes effect on May 17. The two will continue on the same terms and conditions as their original appointment under the July 22, 2022 notification.

Barun Mitra is a 1987-batch IAS officer who previously served as Secretary in the Department of Justice and as Union Law Secretary. Naresh Salecha, a 1984-batch IRAS officer, earlier served as Member (Finance) in the Railway Board and ex officio Secretary in the Ministry of Railways.
