Centre Extends Meera Swarup's Tenure As SAT Technical Member Till March 2027
The Central Government has extended the tenure of Meera Swarup as the Technical Member of the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) for a further period of six months.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on September 22, 2026, Swarup's tenure has been extended from September 09, 2026, to March 09, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The extension was granted under the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026, and the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021. It follows an earlier extension granted on June 24, 2026, which had extended her tenure till September 08, 2026.
Swarup, a 1998-batch Indian Audit & Accounts Service officer, has previously served as Special Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Finance Ministry for nearly 7 years. She has also led the evaluation committee overseeing the strategic disinvestment of public sector companies, including Air India.
