CA Prasanna Kumar Becomes 74th President Of ICAI

CA Prasanna Kumar D has assumed office as the 74th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the council year 2026-27.

A Fellow Member of ICAI, CA Prasanna Kumar qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and brings over four decades of professional experience to the role. He previously served two consecutive terms on the Central Council (24th and 25th Councils) and continues as a member in the 26th Council.

He has held several leadership positions within ICAI, including Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Branch (2001-02) and Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council (2013-14). During 2025-26, he served as Vice President of ICAI, a tenure during which the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund recorded contributions of Rs.6.09 crore and assistance of Rs. 2.24 crore to members' families.

As President, he will chair many standing committees of ICAI such as Executive, Finance, Disciplinary and Examination and serve as Editor-in-Chief of the ICAI Journal, The Chartered Accountant. He also heads ICAI's research and welfare bodies, including the Accounting Research Foundation and XBRL India.

At the international level, CA Prasanna Kumar serves as Technical Advisor to IFAC Board Members and represents ICAI at global forums such as SAFA, PAFA and AFA.

Beyond the profession, he is known for his active involvement in sports, particularly volleyball, and has supported initiatives promoting sportsmanship and youth development.
