Madras High Court Protects Ayushmann Khurrana Starrer 'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do' From Apprehended Piracy
The Madras High Court recently protected Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's Pati Patni Aur Woh Do from apprehended unauthorised broadcast by granting an ad interim injunction in favour of its producer.
Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy restrained internet service providers and cable TV operators from facilitating the unlawful broadcast of the film, which is slated for release on May 15, 2026.
The court noted that “irreversible injury will occur, unless unlawful broadcast is prevented.”
Super Cassettes Industries Pvt. Ltd.(T-Series), the producer of the film, moved the court seeking remedies against apprehended infringement of its copyright in the cinematographic work.
To establish its rights, the company placed on record the CBFC certificate describing it as the producer. The Court also noted that the film's promotional material indicates a release scheduled for May 15, 2026.
At the same time, the court recognised that the expansive nature of the relief sought could affect the legitimate business interests of the respondents, and directed that the producer indemnify them against any losses arising from enforcement of the injunction.
“Subject to this condition, orders of ad interim injunction as prayed for are granted in these two applications until 22.06.2026. Issue notice to the respondents returnable on 22.06.2026. Private notice is also permitted,” the court held.
The injunction will remain in force until June 22, 2026, the next date of hearing.
